A film by the people, for the people!
Vir.Ander is based highly acclaimed Pretoria State Theatre production by the Naledi Award winning team that brought you the stage production, AS.
It is a film based on true events which looks at a group of young men who are sent to a conversion camp to become “men”.
It deals with masculinity, manhood, sexuality and acceptance, what it means to be a young Afrikaans man as well as the pressures that come with family obligations when someone is not allowed to be who they are or express themselves in a way that they want to in a very complex place like the new South Africa.
It shines a light on homosexuality, what that means, the controversy of how it is perceived and how families take it on. At the end of the day the only thing that pulls people through is standing together, unity and your perception of freedom.
