2017 Kicks-off with 4 uplifting crowdfunding charities

These money boxes are taking crowdfunding to the next level.

Thapelo and the Smile Foundation

Over the next 2 months the Smile Foundation, a South African NGO working towards assisting children with facial abnormalities, is raising funds for a sweet young boy. Thapelo has undergone 3 surgeries to date and is about to undertake a fourth. With the help of the Smile Foundation medical teams and crowdfunding efforts to reach their money box goal, Thapelo will receive the treatment he needs to live a healthy life.

Caroline’s Baby Boy

A most tragic story was brought to us on Christmas Eve when a local chef, and mother, was attacked and killed by her husband, who then also took his own life. She left behind her baby boy whose future is uncertain, but already the local community is looking out for him.

With just a few weeks left, the Caroline’s Baby Boy Left Behind money box collection is less than 10% shy of their goal of R100 000! Although funds can never replace a loved one, everyone who has pitched in knows that even the smallest of donations are going to help make the biggest of impacts after such a sad life experience.

Via Channel’s Bobby & Karlien and the Abraham Kriel Kinderhuis

On a journey to connect with South Africans living very different lives to their own, VIA TV’s Bobby and Karlien van Jaarsveld are spending 48 hours in the lives of people around the country. The show features not only the brother and sister team but also their friends and family. Connecting with the Candystick crowdfunding platform, Bobby and Karlien partner to raise funds for various causes and people they meet along the way.

On the first episode, Bobby and Karlien are crowdfunding for the Abraham Kriel Children’s Home; a safe place for children who have been previously abused, abandoned, and neglected and where they can find a loving, safe, and peaceful home.
